Etsy Dallas Spring Bash will be crafty affair

Published: Apr 30, 2009

Etsy Dallas, a local collective of Etsy.com crafters, is hosting its first Etsy Dallas Spring Bash at the historic South Side on Lamar in the hip and up-and-coming Dallas neighborhood known as The Cedars from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 16,

The show, which will be held annually, will feature local handpicked artists and crafters, tunes by DJ John Durbin, “Make & Take” crafts, a prize raffle and more — all free. Plus, the first 50 patrons to attend the craft show will receive free swag bags full of handmade crafts and goods from Etsy Dallas.

Craft lovers will find the family-friendly crafter gathering at South Side's Artists' Quarter located in the main retail corridor. There, patrons of the handmade can peruse crafts from more than 50 vendors.

The Make &Take activity will allow patrons of all craft skill levels to participate in special craft projects to make at the show and take home. Run and sponsored by Girl Scouts Troop #1637, Make & Take participation is free, though the Girl Scouts will be accepting canned and boxed food donations at the booth.

Show show-er-uppers can also play at the Vanity Stand where they can dress up in an array of costumes and have their photo snapped for a take-home souvenir.

For the free raffle, craft shoppers only need to add their email address to the Etsy Dallas mailing list at the event. Raffle winners will take home crafts donated by the show vendors.

According to Stephanie Hindall, Etsy Dallas founder, signing up for the raffle is not required for admission, “So, there's no telling how large the raffle will be.” At similar past events, the club divided the prizes into two drawings, and the winners walked away with about eight items each, including jewelry, art, accessories, soap and more.
