Named for the seven popular salsa recipes the restaurant features every day, 7 Salsas Mexican Grille serves up good food and service Sunday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Friday through Saturday 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

The menu offers a selection of authentic Mexican recipes, many handed down through the generations starting with family matriarch Paulita Villa. Born around 1875, “Grandama” Villa started the family’s first restaurant out of her kitchen window in El Compas, Mexico.

Today, patrons can order classics like nachos, quesadillas, and tamales or select from seafood and low-carb offerings like tilapia veracruz or lettuce wrapped fajitas.

The 7 Salsas Grille is the second location for 7 Salsas, the original located several miles north in Coppell.

“We’ve been in business for 19 years. We started out in a really small place,” said owner Robert Villa as he shaped his fingers together to create a small square.

After expanding the original restauran, opened the 7 Salsas Grille six years ago. Even in the bad economy the grille still gets the business.

“We try to keep something special here. Our food, atmosphere and low prices keep people coming back,” Villa said.

One of the “something specials” is a truly Texas-sized happy hour weekdays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. It includes $4 margaritas, $3 draft beer and $2.50 beer in a bottle. The other “somethings” include the handmade tortillas and featured salsas including Grandma’s tasty “Big Red” recipe — all made fresh and served warm for an authentic flavor.

The grille also offers a long patio that overlooks Valley Ranch and draws in the happy hour crowds year-round with misting fans in the summer and heating lamps in the winter.

The biggest crowds show up between 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. However, the kitchen is always open during business hours for those who want to slide in for a late and quite lunch or dinner.
