DALLAS (December 2, 2010) – Virgin America Airlines launched its new service between California and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) with a local star-studded soiree at downtown Dallas’ Winspear Opera House last night.
Virgin Group’s high-flying founder and CEO, Richard Branson, was there along with a list of local politicians, local glitterati, Virgin America flight attendants and beautiful people.
The special guest of the evening was Texas’ own Willie Nelson, fresh from his weekend stay in the Sierra Blanca police station following his arrest by the border patrol on pot charges. Nelson also provided the entertainment playing his iconic songs including “Help Me Make it Through the Night.”
Party-goers also were given the chance to make a donation to Stand Up 2 Cancer an entertainment industry effort created to accelerate, fund and encourage groundbreaking research to get new therapies in the pipeline faster to patients as quickly as possible to save lives.
Virgin America’s nonstop Los Angeles (LAX)/DFW service began December 1st. Service to and from DFW to San Francisco (SFO) began December 6th. The airline will operate two daily non-stops to and from DFW to Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Virgin America, based in San Francisco, offers travelers some of the newest aircraft with the most up to date amenities in the sky, including mood-lit cabins, fleetwide onboard Wi-Fi, power outlets near every seat and the Red entertainment system – offering passengers films, live TV, videogames and even an on-demand menu — all via a nine inch touch–screen at every seatback.
