Kenny’s Wood Fired Grill is an unlikely place, but a great insider’s find – think Cheers with an incredible manly menu.
Step inside, and you can’t miss the huge horseshoe shaped bar – with more tables tucked away in the right hand corner. Your eyes need a second to adjust to the darkness. But, there’s still enough light to check out the menu. While perusing the fare, nosh on the popovers presented to each guest. Popovers are such a homey, unexpected treat. The first time you have dinner at Kenny’s Wood Fired Grill, the popovers will win you over immediately. They can be a reminder of pleasant past morning memories.
Back to the menu – it’s American surf and turf fare – steak, ribs, veal, lamb, pork tenderloin, chicken and New England-style seafood – no-filler crab cakes, lobster, salmon, tuna, shrimp, scallops, a couple pastas, steak sandwiches and burgers – you get the idea. The side dishes are inventive yet familiar – asparagus, broccoli, adult mac and cheese, scalloped potatoes, potato pancakes and brie fondue.
Lunch is also great here. Try Kimberly’s Salad – a Greek salad with all the trimmings. Consider adding protein to the salad, such as the salmon – so good and good for you.
The greatest things about Kenny’s Wood Fired Grill, besides the food of course, are the impeccable attentive service, the drinks and the chef’s table. It’s great to sit at the chef’s table if you’re eating alone – you’re continuously entertained. And, then there’s the owner, Kenny. He’s a gem – very in touch with the customers. He comes by each table to make sure all his guests have a wonderful time. Ninety-nine percent of them usually do – and the 1 percent who don’t probably are just having a bad day.
HelloDallas Tip: Make sure you make a reservation either by phone or online – unless you don’t mind waiting for awhile at the comfortable bar.
